Bravenet offers 50MB of disk space and 1.5GB of Bandwidth per month. This is pretty little compared to some other companies, but bravenet do provide you with some great tools, so you can give it a try. Take advantage of their many tools and it will help you greatly in building your website.

They offer you with a free domain name with free hosting. That’s the most attractive thing I find. It is like free hosting except you get your own domain name and like free hosting, they do put ads on your page. The only thing is that not everyone gets a free domain name, but…you can always try it. Doesn’t seem that bad, the only thing is that you probably don’t have extensive control of your website (coding and design mainly).

One of the web’s most prestigious free hosting providers. You get unlimited bandwidth (some providers usually only allow a certain GB per month, etc), e-mail services, polls, web forms, guest book, e-commerce, password protection, blogs, albums, easy site builder, support, etc. It’s all free. The most attractive part is probably the unlimited bandwidth. A great place to start your website.

Host Department (HD) offers free hosting next to their paid. It gives you 100MB of space and unlimited bandwidth/hits. It does not support the more extensive programming languages such as PHP, Perl, etc. It has built in installation programs, a site creator, etc. You can get statistics reports for your website which many other free hosting companies do not offer.

So far, tripod/lycos is the number one European hosting. If you are looking for paid hosting, this isn’t really a great place unless you are buying an e-commerce site, the $14.99 deal is pretty good. It never mentions what they give in the free hosting, but you can try it. It does offer PHP, so you can use it to make your website more dynamic.

It offers 200MB which is pretty big, but only 5GB bandwidth per month which is not so big compared to some, but still usable. It allows PHP, so if you would like to use PHP in your site, you can sign up. Or, if you are still learning PHP, test your skills and experiment with a free account. Other than PHP, they support CGI (great), SSI (Server Side Include), Perl, and you get 1 MySQL database. The free hosting can host 2 domains and you can have multiple web sites. They also provide you with E-mails (even POP3 accounts with the free version) and you can have up to 5 sub domains.

This is one of the free hosting that is impossible to find. Other than the disadvantage of pop-under ads and limited file size (500KB limit, but it should be ok for normal files), it is great. It supports many scripts such as PHP, CGI, SSI, etc., it also has un-metered space and data transfer (bandwidth). This means that it is unlimited and you can generate as much traffic as you want and use as much space. That offer is better than paid hosting and you are allowed to buy your own domain name and host it for free so there’s no point in buying paid hosting then unless you want to build an online store, download site, or something like that.
Great hosting, should really consider signing up.

Geocities is by Yahoo. It gives 15MB, 3GB transfer, and not much. It is pretty bad, but a lot of people use Yahoo to host their site. You can try it out, for beginners usually, it’s not advanced enough and it’s offers are not really good.
Frihost.com
Another great free host that gives you 250MB and 10GB of monthly bandwidth. It offers subdomains and it does allow you to use PHP, Perl, etc. It has unlimited databases (MySQL), FTP accounts, and E-mail accounts. You can purchase your own domain name too. There are no ads and you place ads on your site later on. The only thing is that you have to make at least five posts on their website before you apply and be an active member of the forums later on too in order to keep your hosting.
